Wig Training goals

Hello, and thanks for reading my blog. I have not done anything within the last time I posted. I apologize for it, I've had a death in my family. So out of respect for my sister I decided to help her.

So in my other post I was talking about training on wig making and I am still up in the air with what I am going to do. Marquetta Breslin is offering a Lace Wig making course from home. I still am not a fan of flying, but when I purchase this I will will began my training and be successful from it.

The thing I won't do:

  • I don't think I will be making full lace wigs
The things I will do:

  • Make lace frontals
  • Make lace closures
  • Make mini closures
  • Make traditional (hand) sewn wigs
  • Make sewing machine wigs
  • Make my own wig caps
  • Repair lace and traditional wigs
  • Sale my wigs
  • Sale hair

Some of my supplies I've been adding to my collection:

I have been adding supplies to my wig making collection, buying items as I go. I am also making space within my salon and at home to do quick repairs. I think once I get started with this it will be therapeutic and profitable. I had been searching for ways to make extra money online and this is going to do it.

On November 9, 2015 I will be traveling to Atlanta to take a class on hair replacement from Toni Love, excited I am!!  Until the next time, thanks for reading!!

Day 2 of Ventilating

The thing that bother's me the most is I procrastinate so much and I need to do better. I know I was suppose to do some ventilating yesterday and I didn't. My thing is, don't get to frustrated. Walk away and try it later, and try and not work on it when your frustrated.

Today I did better than I did yesterday, I could not figure out how to loop the hair or even hold the hair correctly, or loop it. I still have problems with the amount of hair I'm pulling away from my looped hair. I will work on that tomorrow. I have included some photos of what my work has looked like thus far, don't laugh, but here is day 1:
Day 1

Day 2 (frustrated)

Later that evening on Day 2

I decided to use a bigger net so that I could see the net. I already had a hard time pulling the hair though the net with what HisandHers sent me. I am going to have to purchase some more bulk hair because I use a lot of hair. See ya on the next post!!

Ventilating Sucks!!!

OMG!!!! I was so excited to receive my kit from http://www.hisandhers.com. I paid $109 for the kit and I received the following items:
Hair
Ventilation needles (2)
Lace
Duckbills
Comb
Canvas head
Wig stand
DVD

Now, when you receive your kit, you are really excited because your on your way right? Well, let me tell you, normally I can catch on quickly, but this old brain of mine gets scrambled, lol. My frustrations were:
The lace was hard and very small, and my hook was getting caught on it.
I could not see my knot to pull hair through knot.
And  I wasn’t pulling correctly.
Nor was I applying enough tension.
I am giving myself all this week to learn this, meaning that I will spend hours during the day trying to learn this technique on my own. To prevent any frustrations I will watch video, then try it again or I will just walk away from it and start over. I wasted too much money not to just learn this technique.
I have come across some trainings I’d like to attend, but guess what? I don’t want to fly, but here they are:
Lacewigtrainingcenter.com - $1200 (training located in hotel, no shuttle to hotel)
Amariefulllacewigs.com-$1300 (Skype training, one on one, shuttle from airport and hotel)
Learnelacefront.com-$2500 (no extras)
dresdreams.com-$2500 (no shuttle, two hours away from me)

As you can see the training is very expensive, but I am adding on to my business and I see something big for it. The thing about being a hairstylist is you have to constantly promote yourself and also educate yourself. You cannot get to comfortable because if you do you will get stuck and you won’t grow. Those type of things are the reason new hairstylist can’t make it within the industry because those are the most important things. Money comes later….
Since I decided to share the places I want to receive my training, I won’t disclose where I got my training. I have not even decided yet on what I am going to do……I know I am going to have to have some hands on though, the skype sounds great, but really truly that’s not gonna work for me. I am a visual and hands on, and I can’t ask a video questions, lol. I will hit my DVD again tomorrow. I will post about my progress. Until then, see you on my next blog post.
